"SWEET GRAIN Stew"
10-20-02

The top of the day to you

As I sit here listening to a little bit of Quincy Jones' "Summer in the City" and Loose Ends "Sweetest Pain" which is more than excellent, I got to thinking of what I wanted to share with you this week. I wrote in my last message that we are going into a new season and we need to be changing our diets per season. Well I sure hate to let go of the summer's fresh fruits and the myriad of dishes you can put together but nature knows best.

Here's the deal for this week. I'm still drinking the fresh orange juice first thing in the morning from last year's crop of Valencia Oranges. They are really beginning to dry out but are so incredibly sweet, which really helps to set the tone of the day. I then shift into the Persimmon and Banana dish I made for you a couple weeks ago. But now about the noontime I am starting to have some grains about twice a week. I never eat grains more than twice a week at the outset.

My good friend, Dr. Douglas Graham has a classic book out called 'Grain Damage', which should be included in your nutritional library. Make mention that I suggested for you to review it. Just the same, I do eat only 2 grains and they are MILLET & RICE! But NEVER WHEAT…God Forbid!
People actually think Wheat is good for you but it's one of the worst foods to consume. Wheat, Oats, Rye, etc. are for horses, etc! We can't digest them favorably at all and the by-products of them are just NOT worth the price we pay for eating them.

The respiratory problems, vascular hassles and the digestive problems are just too much of a price to pay. Sinus problems begin to clear in just a few days when we get rid of them,

But anyway, Rice and Millet are OK to eat. I usually eat this around the noontime. If you have to go to work, away from your house, then you have an option, cook this recipe I'm going to share with you when you get up and it will keep till the noontime. This will really give you the energy you need to have for the rest of the day. I would try to take a nap right after it so you will be really ready for the rest of the day. Or if it's more convenient to have this on the weekends then it only takes a maximum of 1 hour to cook. Space it out to suit your schedule.

THE INGREDIENTS:

4 tablespoons of Wild Rice
1 Tablespoon of Millet
One half medium size Sweet Potato
2 cups of Distilled Water
One quarter teaspoon of Oregano
One quarter teaspoon of SALT (not the regular SALT as it's toxic. I have NEVER recommended a salt to anyone but my good friend Dr. Paul Yanick has an excellent non-toxic, nickel free sea salt that will serve very well if you are having trouble finding sea kelp or sea dulse…or maybe you just want a different flavor. You may click here to get that salt.

Let him know I suggested for you to order it.

THE RECIPE:

In a cooking pot put the all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Immediately turn the stove down to the lowest heat for one hour. Turn the stove off and eat it when you are ready. This is so delicious and very filling for the rest of the day.

Change is actually a good thing. But we all seem to resist it. MAKE CHANGE A POSITIVE PART OF YOUR LIFE.
-----------------------------------------------
We must avoid breaking when things don't go our way. We'll always be secure to the degree that we can accept change. True security comes from being able to bend our insecurities.

When we recognize and accept that change will inevitably take place. We'll become secure, not by standing still, but by growing, moving, and staying energized. Be secure in the knowledge that we can deal with anything that happens to us.

We need to have the courage to bet on our ideas. Let's take some calculated risks, and act on our dreams. There is no permanent security on this earth: there is only opportunity. And I have adopted the notion that when opportunity is knocking on the front door, I'd better not be in the back yard looking for 4 leaf clovers.

You are special and deserve the best even though it might mean a little change here and there. All my best to you.
