Top of the day to you
And a very Happy St. Patrick's Day to you as well. Since I'm Irish I felt it would
be good to do a little something to honor this day. I used to have a step mother
who used to yell at me and get under my skin when she would say, "Heeeey,
get in this house. If it wasn't for the wheel barrel, you Irish would still be
on all fours!" Man I used to hate that!
But anyway, it's also the height of Spring Break in Daytona Beach, Florida
and I always like to get in the midst of it all as the youth inspires me to
be better. After riding my beach cruiser bicycle on the beach for 32 miles today
there is one altruism that comes to mind. No matter how good we think we are,
there is always somebody a little bit better which helps to keep my psyche to
the max as there are a whole lot of them out there on the beach right now who
inspire me to be better.
So many folks who read this message each week tell me how much it means to
them and inspires them to keep them on tract. I always appreciate it, but now
more so than ever, so thanks a million to each of you who write me each week
singing our praises.
I like to reflect on Spring Break for a moment and let's do our own Spring
Break. Take a break from the everyday grind and treat yourself to great things.
This life is so short that it would be good not to take for granted the things
that money can't buy
our health.
Here's a healthy way to prepare Pizza. One of our Gold Members has been after
me for months to show you how to make PIZZA so here goes. We have a little place
downtown on Beach Street that's called "The Avocado Kitchen" that
serves a mean Pizza without the Tomato Sauce and no Cheese. Now you're thinking,
how could that be Pizza! There are lots of places where they will prepare you
Pizza the way you like it if you just ask them. They really don't know until
you ask them. And practically ALL the time they are usually very happy to make
something different so they can exploit their creative genius. What's the old
saying, "if you don't A-S-K, you don't G-E-T"?
I speak in Trinidad every so often and I love it to the max down there in the
Islands. The person who books me is a Colonic Therapist and some of the stories
he tells me are mind blowers to say the least.
But as I was taking him to the Airport on his last visit to Daytona Beach,
he said something that I've know for years but it is always nice to hear it
from someone else. He said, "Doc, PIZZA DOES NOT DIGEST!" Well I knew
that but to hear him say it with such emphasis was great.
As we were walking through the clearance place, he looked at me and gave me
one of those Bear Island hugs and said once again but with even more emphasis,
"Doc, PIZZA DOES NOT DIGEST!" I smiled and nodded as to agree.
But then he was walking down the ramp and he waved smilin' as big as a possum
saying
something to me that I couldn't hear because he was way too far away and the
noise was too loud but I read his lips and he said, "Doc, PIZZA DOES NOT
DIGEST!" I laughed and waved back. But the notion stuck with me for quite
some time now. It's so true. PIZZA DOES NOT DIGEST! It's like a mass of paste
in your body and not worth a hoot to you other than taste and it's filling.
Junk Food personified.
So after sharing that story with so many of our Inner Circle Members when they
call for counseling, I am constantly asked how to make Pizza to where it WOULD
digest. So check this out and enjoy this recipe when you prepare it. And yes,
that's right, NO CHEESE and NO TOMATOES. Oh Ethel!
If you can get some good non wheat flour at a health food store and quite a
few of the health food stores sell ready made non-wheat pizza crust ready to
go. So buy that and take it home. Warm it a bit in the oven for about 2 minutes
and remove it from the oven to put a little Olive Oil on it along with some
of your favorite herbs, i.e. basil leaves, garlic powder, oregano and some sea
kelp powder. Then put some Red Bell Pepper flat slices about 2 inch squares
for the base. Then put paper-thin Summer & Zucchini Squash slices on top
of that along with some paper-thin Eggplant slices. Put back in the oven for
about 5-7 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove it from the oven and put some mashed
Avocado all over the top. Slice this up and serve. This will amaze even the
most skeptical of the bunch. I have NEVER had anyone say they didn't really
like it.
I realize this is a change but a definite change for the better I'll assure
you. But if you are really wanting to see some real improvements with your health,
The first step toward getting somewhere is to decide that you're not going to
stay where you are.
You're a product of your environment. So choose an environment that will best
develop you toward your goals. Analyze your life in terms of your environment.
Are the things around you helping you toward your success - or are they holding
you back. Your world today is a living expression of how you are using and have
used your mind. It's something you can change at any time.
I was talking to a good friend of mine on the phone who just came down from
Philadelphia and is torn between going back and staying and I think this analogy
is cohesive with the change issue. We all like to stay within our usual state
of misery (be it marriage, career, health choices, residence, etc.) rather than
try to experience the uncertainty of change. Joe Marino, fellow speaker friend
of mine in Jacksonville, Florida said it well when he coined the phrase, "No
body likes change except a wet baby." His audio tape series puts it all
right on the line.
By the way, this would be an awesome LUNCH for you.
I wish you great things as you strive to make health your first concern and
