"Blending Verses Juicing"

The top of the day to you

I was speaking with one of my great friends and speaking colleagues, Dr. Ken Thomas in Ohio, and we got to talking about which of the two forms of dealing with food was 'more better'!

I am convinced that Blending would be the better choice.

First of there's no waste of both food and nutrients as when we throw the pulp away there goes 27% of the Nutrients. And I could stop there and that would be enough for me to consider the blending of the food over the juicing.

But let's just the convenience of it. Just wash off the either fruits or vegetables that you are going to use (Never mix fruits and vegetables at the same meal as you'll see in our Food Combining Guide and blend them up for 1-2 minutes depending on the consistency you want and away you go. One great things about the Vita-Mix or Thermomix is that there's no waste and 15-20 seconds to clean the machine as oppose to the juicer where there's a 27% waste and you need about 10-15 minutes to clean it.

Now physiologically, the fruits and vegetables when juiced are void of the fiber that holds back that sudden rush of the sugars of whatever you're juicing. Sugar Cane in it's raw form is quite nutritious but when it's milled down to very few nutritients if any all the while lacking fiber makes it a most inferior product for the body. And it's too much of a rush for the pancreas to deal with normally, naturally.

Even Fruits and Vegetables lack the fiber when juiced and there's just too much of an overload of sugars the body has to contend with. Now I would say that juicing is a lot better than cooking the food to death and would be a good supplemental form of nutritients, but to think you can subsist on juices alone would be foolhardy. But I can tell you from personal experience that when I blend up the foods for an extended time, there's no problem with good nutrition.

Now about the fiber, when you go into the health food store next time ask them what is the biggest selling item they have and 99% of the time they will say fiber and energy potions. So here we throw the fiber away during juicing only to try and get it somewhere else. Sounds like a waste to me both of time and money.

At this time of year we enter a new season….THE FALL! And grapes are coming in strong. One thing I like to do in the morning is to put about 1 pound of red seedless grapes in my vita mix or Thermomix along with a few bananas and a persimmon (optional) and blend for 15-20 seconds and presto you've got a breakfast of champions. Now you try and do that in a juicer. Tough I'll grant you.
